Cash yield
Switch it on and the USDT that sits idle in your follows is lent out while it waits, and comes back by itself the moment a buy needs it. Your buying power can be put to work by hand. Follow takes nothing of what it earns.

What idle cash is
Every follow holds some cash. A portfolio may hold cash itself (a strategy that is a fifth cash keeps a fifth of your follow in USDT), and some of a portfolio's names cannot be bought on Follow yet (see Coverage), so their share waits as USDT too; a name whose share is under a dollar waits as well. That cash sits in your follow's own account on BNB Chain, earning nothing. Your buying power, the USDT in your wallet before it follows anything, is idle in the same way.
Where it goes
Cash at work is lent through Aave on BNB Chain, the lending market where USDT suppliers earn what borrowers pay, through Aave's own standard wrapper of its USDT market. Your follow's account holds the wrapper's shares itself; nothing of yours is held by Follow, and the shares are never traded. The rate on the Cash yield page is the market's supply rate at the last hourly reading, compounded, a year. It moves with demand every hour and is a reading, never a promise.
How it comes back
The same pass that plans your follow's trades every minute decides its cash. When an update of the portfolio needs more cash than the follow holds in plain USDT, the pass brings exactly that much back first and lists the buys in the same minute. When you sell, everything comes back before the first sale. When you switch it off, everything comes back at the next pass. What the creator of a portfolio is owed, and anything under $10, stays as plain USDT and is never lent. Nothing is ever sold to cover cash the lender has not yet returned: the buy waits instead.
Your buying power
The USDT in your wallet is yours to put to work by hand, with the press on the Cash yield page, and to bring back the same way. It stays buying power: a purchase or a withdrawal that needs it brings back what it needs as its own first step, with one more signature, so you never have to bring money back before you can use it. The bar's Buying power counts both.
What can go wrong
Lending is not a deposit and nothing here is insured. The money sits in Aave's smart contracts on BNB Chain, which have run for years without a loss of suppliers' money, but a flaw in them would be a loss. A lending market can also owe more than it can pay if borrowers' collateral fails, and it can refuse to release cash for a while when every dollar is lent out. Follow reads the market every hour and stops lending when it is stressed, brings everything back while it still can when the market could not pay Follow's whole book twenty times over, and never lends more than a twentieth of what the market can pay out. A follow whose cash the lender will not release reads "Waiting for the lender" and its buys wait.
What it costs
Nothing from Follow: everything the lender pays lands in your follow's cash, or in your wallet's money at work. Aave charges nothing to lend or to bring back. The network fee on BNB Chain, a fraction of a cent per move, is Follow's for the moves Follow makes and yours for the ones you make from your wallet, where Follow covers the first.
What the Cash yield page shows
On, every follow's spare cash is lent out once the follow is settled and brought back when a buy needs it. Off, everything comes back at the next pass. Off by default.

Each follow's idle cash, what is at work and what it has earned, with a pill: Earning, Recalling (cash on its way back for a buy or a sale), Too small (under $10), Off, Older account (a follow made before cash yield existed: sell and follow again to use it), Waiting for the lender.
How it is counted
Cash at work counts as cash everywhere: a follow's value includes it, every name is sized on the whole position, and Buying power counts your wallet's. What it earns is written down once a day and shows under Income on Portfolio as the Cash yield stream, beside Publishing and Referrals. It counts in your profit and loss too, the way a fund's return includes its cash interest. Yield is income where you are taxed; the Export on Portfolio carries it.
