Where portfolios come from

Every portfolio on Follow is built from something public, or composed by a Follow user and published in dated versions.

Public filings

Curated portfolios are built from public filings: funds' quarterly 13F reports, the trade reports of members of Congress, and the transaction reports the President files with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics.

Each portfolio page shows its source, disclosed holdings and dates. Use Explore to compare portfolios and read their About sections before choosing one.

The delay

Public filings arrive after the underlying holdings or trades. Your account follows the latest disclosure Follow has processed, not a live view of the source's account.

The date a holding describes and the date it became public can differ. Read the source and freshness information on the portfolio page; the source may have traded again before a report appears.

Coverage and cash

Coverage describes how much of the source portfolio Follow can reproduce with supported holdings. It does not mean every disclosed position can be bought.

Unavailable securities, options and allocations too small to trade remain cash. Price protection can also leave a supported purchase waiting. The holdings and coverage sections explain the difference for each portfolio; how it works describes what happens to your amount.

Reading the chart

A public portfolio's chart is a disclosure-based reconstruction, not the source's verified investment return or your account's actual performance.

Read the chart's method, dates and benchmark together. Disclosure delays, cash allocations, execution prices and costs can make your own results different.

Creators

A creator's portfolio is a list of weights over the stocks and ETFs Follow can hold, composed and published on Follow by another user. Every change the creator publishes is a dated version: followers are rebalanced to it within minutes, and the Activity tab lists each version with the creator's line on why.

Nothing before the first publication is counted. The chart begins the day the portfolio went live, so a creator cannot claim a return Follow did not watch happen. What a creator charges is on fees.
